A tax file number (TFN) is a personal reference number issued by the Australian Taxation Office that identifies you for tax and superannuation purposes. Companies, partnerships, and trusts will require a separate TFN as they are considered their own distinct taxable and legal entities under Australian law. If you do not currently have a TFN, you can apply for one via the ATO website.
